Join the University of Florida/Lee County Sea Grant Extension program and Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation, by participating in the 2010 Pine Island Sound Scallop Search, a resource-monitoring program where volunteers snorkel, looking for scallops in select areas within Pine Island South.  Reservations are required - please call 239-533-7518 or email Joy at hazellje@leegov.com.

25 Rain Barrel Workshop

Lee County Extension Educators will teach you how to set up a recycled 55-gallon plastic barrel to collect rain water from your roof.  Use the water for your landscape plants, potted plants, vegetable and herb gardens, special plant collections, etc.  Workshop provides set-up instruction, maintenance, artistic possibilities and a reference booklet included.  This workshop will show you how to conserve water, save money, and protect water quality.

29 Food Managers Certification Class” is a comprehensive food handler training which includes the current regulations to assist in taking the ServSafe Manager’s Exam (through the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation). This National Certification is valid for five years. In Florida, certification is required for food managers of all establishments licensed by the Dept. of Business and Professional Regulation, Dept. of Ag and Consumer Services, and selected licenses of the Dept. of Health. No walk in registrations. A score of 75% is required for passing the Exam. Bring your lunch.
